KPSA will seek collaborations
with key health services providers
to focus on capacity building
on preventive measures, risk
management and linkage to
health care providers for curative
support. KPSA will work with all
stakeholders to ensure a we have a
robust support system to address
any emerging health challenges in
private schools.
Schools are not only a place for
academic learning but also for
social and emotional learning,
social interaction and social
support.
COVID-19 pandemic leading to
closure of all Schools did not only
disrupt children’s learning, but
sustainable private schools due to
its deep negative effects on human
resource and finances in private
schools.
The challenge ahead in building
resilience, for teachers, school
directors, and other stakeholders
in our schools is significant. Failing an unparalleled opportunity
to rise to this challenge would
have serious negative impacts
on Private schools, Children and
their stakeholders. This is why
improving the resilience of Private
schools in 2021 and beyond is
our utmost responsibility in the
association and forms the core
thematic considerations this year.
As the year began our teachers
summoned their core purpose and
rose to the enormous challenge
of teaching and leading during a
deadly and confusing period of
uncertainty, we appreciate them so
much for rising up to the occasion
by responding with resilience,
innovation, and devotion to their
students and careers.
They have made personal
sacrifices to continue teaching –
even without adequate technology,
March - May 2021
guaranteed safety, and a steady pay.
Despite this, teachers have quickly
adapted to the new duties, roles,
and policies thrust upon them as a
result of COVID-19.
KPSA will continue to give
and advocate more support for
teachers’ well-being, and continued
professional development to
align their growth and delivery of
service to be in tandem with the
new realities. We will push for
their inclusion in the first batch of
COVID-19 vaccination exercise
set for March, 2021.
We thank all our stakeholders for
their continued support to Private
schools whenever called upon, we
know for sure we have dependable
partners to hold our hands
whenever challenges arise.
In conclusion I wish to emphasize
that covid-19 crisis provided
to rethink our day-to-day
experiences as private schools. The
nine months past nine months
were filled with unknowns and
ups and downs. But the constant
silver lining was the discovery that
it is possible to take the COVID-19
pandemic seriously while safely
operating in-person teaching and
learning. Finally as private school
managers always;
• Take COVID protocols
seriously and go to great
lengths to follow best
practices.
• Put learners and staff safety
and health at the center of
everything you do.
